JOB DESCRIPTION
The AI in Genomics Lab at the Department of Human Genetics at Emory University (PI: Jian Hu, PhD) invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position in support of research in
Statistical Genomics and specifically in the areas of developing statistical and machine learning algorithms to decipher disease mechanism. The initial appointment is for two years, given satisfactory research progress, and can be extended depending on progress and funding availability. Candidates with a Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics, Computer Science, Computational Biology, and Bioinformatics are of particular interest. Strong candidates will have demonstrated expertise in the themes listed above and will seek to pursue computational-based research. Experiences with data analysis, algorithm development, and computational modeling are highly desirable. Career advancement opportunities through application to foundation or pilot grants will be encouraged as part of fellows’ mentorship plan.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Successful candidates must hold a PhD degree (by the time of appointment) in Biostatistics, Statistics, Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated skills in data analytics using programming languages such as Python, R, or similar, are required.
- Preferred candidates should have academic records that are consistent with an ability to publish in top-ranked peer reviewed journals.
- The successful candidates should have effective communication skills, self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
Candidates are expected to work with faculty within and outside the department to develop collaborative research and, in the case where an ongoing research program is in place, contribute to the accomplishment of specific program objectives. Candidates are encouraged to develop grant proposals with faculty. This position will remain open until filled.
